It was the first night of Le Nozze at ROH. Two baritones on the same stage. Some of the best right now. Imagine that! The charismatic Erwin Schrott as Figaro and the fierceful Count, Mariusz Kwiecen. Pure delight seen from circle stalls, seat 9. Practically on stage :). Aprite un po'quegli ochi was the highlight of the evening.

The Countess and Susana were not exactly as I would have liked them to be. Eri Nakamura didn't have that flexible voice I heard before for Susana and the Countess couldn't find her way through Dove sono... She got tired and the sound when breathing was annoying. Too rough voice for a delicate lady, from my point of view. But it was the first night and I was very close to the stage. The others will be better, I'm sure.
