It was of those performance that leave a smile on my face. I simply enjoyed it, from the beginning to the end. Silvia Sorina Munteanu has an amazing voice. It's impossible not to like it. My favorite part of the opera is the end of act II, when Turandot asks the three questions and Calaf gives the right answer. Then he tells her that he accepts to die if she manages to find out his name before sunrise. In that precise moment the orchestra plays a small part of the famous aria "Nessun Dorma". And again, the gran finale, when Turandot realizes that "il tuo nome e' amore". Isn't that beautiful?

This is a semi staged production that had its premiere at the end of the previous opera season. I prefer this way than the old costumes/sets the opera brings on stage on and on. I can concentrate more on the voices. Calaf, Kiss Attila, matched Mrs Munteanu's voice very well. His rendition of the answers (second act), Nessun Dorma (third act) and the duet with Turandot (secont and third act) was impressive and the audience felt the need to applaude during the final notes of Nessun Dorma (as you know, the music doesn't stop).

Liked it a lot. It was way better than La Traviata that I saw two weeks ago. So there's place for better.
